Blue/Gray and Neutral Master Bedroom Design

Tuesday, May 1, 2012

Here is a recent design project I completed. The couple has a new baby at home and were starting to feel that "closed in" feeling that too much baby stuff can create. They wanted to redo their master bedroom to make it feel light and fresh. They have a complete set of nice dark wood furniture that is staying in the room. They are also installing new hardwood floors.

My challenge was to bring in the soft items. The bedding is neutral, but still interesting with pattern. We are doing a steal gray/blue wall paint. They have a wall of windows, so we went light and airy on the drapery. They will be hung as high as possible and have a slight puddle on the ground. These drapes also have a subtle gold banding that I love. I included two bedding sets in this design. One to serve as the coverlet and the other to be folded at the foot of the bed. This family has an adorable, very large, English Mastiff. There is chance she would drool on this beautiful bedding, so the pattern and layers will help with that! Also for function sake, I included a media tower in this design. It will hid next to their dresser to house unsightly components.

I can't wait to see it come together. You know how I feel about a master being a true retreat! I blogged about that here on Dallas Moms Blog and on our master bedroom here. What do you think of this design. Neutral is not my normal for sure, but I love the different patterns and textures. I don't think the color will be missed.

Anyone interested in their own design board? Comment and I can send you details!
