Love Where You Live!

To a lot of people, Interior Design is only for the wealthy. It belongs in stately mansions and is done with HUGE budgets. While that can be true, that is not the way I see design! It is for everyone! Whether you are renting, in a starter home, down-sizing, or in your "forever" house...you should love your space. "Love Where you Live" is my design tag line. Here is what it means to me:

1. Every space should function  - Your space has to work for you. Purge clutter, organize, find storage solutions, and analyze why a space is not working.

2. It is okay to be sentimental - If something makes you happy...then it deserves a place in your home. There is always a way to display special items or pictures that is stylish and special at the same time.

3. Be willing to invest time - When budgets are tight, it is time to roll up the sleeves and get to work. Paint an old piece of furniture or re-purpose dated items. It takes some work, but it will bring great satisfaction.

4. If you don't know where to start... - Pick one room and make it lovely. A place you can retreat to when needed. Decorating a home is really a journey done over time. That is how a space feels special and lived in, so just start somewhere.
A happy spot in my home.
High end design is great eye candy and I love to look at it, but I don't want to live in it. My things will always have fingerprints and cracker crumbs on them and I don't want that to ever frustrate me. I live in a well loved home, but it is still beautiful to me!
Our home is happiest when filled with people!
So...do you "Love Where you Live?"
Jennifer
