Funny Fridays - Discipline!

Friday, February 24, 2012

Simpled out would be the best way to describe our household this week. We are all tired. The kids and I have seen A LOT of each other too. So with that comes some "you had to be there" moments especially as I try to train up these silly children!

Cue this picture:

If you look closely, you will see a little spike of hair above the top of the chair. This was my failed attempt at teaching him table manners. He was fussing through dinner one night, so I turned his chair around to show him that was not appropriate. He immediately stopped fussing, so I turned him back around to the table. He started fussing again. So I turned him away from us again and he stopped fussing. He liked it better! Discipline FAIL #1!

Mia was climbing on the furniture, so she got sent to timeout. When it was time to discuss what she had done wrong, I asked her to put her hands on my face to get her attention. Instead of listening to my wise council, she started "smooshing" my cheeks back and forth. You know like the "My Name is Chubby" jokes in gradeschool! I tried really hard, but I was not able to control my composure. I started laughing so hard and then so did she. Discipline FAIL #2!

Parenting is nothing, if not amusing! I love these kiddos so much, they keep life interesting!

Anyone else want to share a discipline backfire, I would love to know I am not the only one!?! I hope everyone has a great weekend!

  1. We're having trouble at keeping Trent (6 weeks younger than Mia) in timeout. This morning he 'escaped' and ran naked through the house. I was chasing him and just couldn't keep it together. I was trying so hard to keep him from noticing that I had a fit of grins and giggles...but I think I failed. It is just too ridiculous to be chasing a toddler around the house to put him back in timeout!

  2. Our almost 3 year old son has made a habit out of yelling , "Jesus I'll obey!!!" at all time outs. Why can't he just say sorry? Jesus didn't put him in time out, I did... Lol. Well repentance works for forgiveness, maybe he just skipping right to the BOSS!

  3. Just catching up on blogging! LOVE the pic of Tripp's spikey hair. Hilarious!

We laugh all of the time while disciplining. It is so hard sometimes not to laugh!! I can't think of anything specific at the moment other than the time y'all were over a couple of weeks ago for dinner swap- can't even remember why Chloe was in trouble but it was hard to discipline her because we were ALL laughing!
